Earlier this year I was commissioned by Erewash museum and Kirk Hallam PCC to create illustrations of an Anglo Saxon holding the type of sword recently discovered in the grounds of All Saints Church in Ilkeston, UK.
It is going to be the background to an exhibition celebrating the homecoming of the Sword of Kirk Hallam.
This sword had been in conservation in London. A National Lottery Heritage Fund project is underway to bring it back to the church where it was dug from the ground twenty years before.
The event was cancelled due to COVID-19. But thankfully it will now be rescheduled for next year.
Below are other images of the sword outside the church and a logo I designed for the event.
